Initial & maintenance dose: 150 mg once daily. May be increased to 300 mg or other antihypertensive agents can be added. Elderly >75 yr & hemodialysis patient Consider initiating w/ 75 mg. Hypertensive type 2 diabetic patient Initially 150 mg once daily. Maintenance: 300 mg once daily.
Correct intravascular vol- or Na-depletion prior to administration. Increased risk of severe hypotension in patients w/ bilateral renal artery stenosis. Periodic monitoring of K & serum creatinine in patients w/ renal impairment. Monitoring of serum K in patients, suffering from heart failure. Patients w/ recent kidney transplantation, primary aldosteronism, aortic or mitral stenosis, obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, ischemic cardiopathy or ischemic CV disease. Patients w/ rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption. Lactation. Childn.
